Hello everyone,
I thought I would tell you all about myself and my car. I've been a porsche fanatic since I was five. I collect Porsches, bought my first (a 931) in 1995. I'm a mechanic who specializes in porsches especially the 924/44/68 series. I've have 20 years experience doing bodywork. I also do fabrication & machine work.
This car is an '82 931. I'm in the middle of a complete restoration on it that started as a repaint. It's been dissassembled for several years, I have been too busy to work on it. I'll be getting back on it soon with the goal of having it done before my 20th anniversary of buying it (1-31-15). The pics are from when I bought it, it looked the same when I tore it down.
My goal is a stock restoration with the exception of a CGT intercooler, CGT 8.5:1 pistons and a water cooler turbo. That may change......

Very good choice for a 931. I love the polished wheels with painted centers. The negine compartment is very clean. _________________ 1981 931 (Canadian car)

Thanks everyone. It was a good looking car until I stripped it down. I had just bought a 944 and thought I would drive it while repainted the 931. I wanted to paint the engine area too which turned into CGT pistons while I had it out. Before I knew it, it snowballed into a complete redo. I stripped it down to a shell. It was original paint when I got it. I did a respray with dupont but wasnt happy with the quality & look of the paint itself, it looked "cheap". So I stripped it down to bear metal & started over. I'ts currently a shell in primer.I'll start a thread on the rest of the restoration when I get back on it. |
