A simple question I hope. The passenger's window in my 932 don't go up or down and I suspect it is a switch issue. How do I remove them without breaking anything? _________________ 1979 Porsche 924 Turbo

My 2 cents....
First..... Give the inner door panel a couple of good thumps with the bottom of your fist where the electric motor sits (bottom centre-ish).
Second....The switch's on my car come out pretty easy,I can grip them at the edges with my fingers and pull them out with a little force and wriggling.
(and or use a little help from a flat screwdriver once they are out a few mm by pushing in the spring clips that hold the switch in)
Third...Maybe if still no go you can remove the door card screws so the inner panel comes away and lightly tap the motor with a hammer...
Forth..If the switch "is" faulty I may have a few at home.... |

I would suggest removing the entire surround. The door card is flexible enough that you should be able to pull the entire surround out, perhaps with the aid of a thin flathead screwdriver. Just be gentle and take your time.
Once you have the surround out, you can disconnect the electrical harness, and then squeeze the two tabs to press the switch out.
Usually, this issue is just a matter of cleaning the switch. I would start with that first before anything else, because even if there is a fault elsewhere, cleaning the switch will eliminate that as a variable and provide for faster / better operation later.
Somebody has done a writeup with pictures on how to clean the switch, and for the life of me, I can't find it. It might be on another forum, but I thought for sure it was here. Just be aware that the little rockers inside the switch MUST GO BACK IN THE SAME WAY or things won't work correctly! So when you pull the plastic rocker cover off, be very careful that the two metal springy strips don't go flying. Also be aware that there are tiny little springs and ball bearings in there that will go flying if you're not careful.
Once you have it safely apart and have noted the correct positions, do the usual job of degreasing and cleaning all of the metal contacts inside the switch, then reassemble.
If I can find the how-to, I'll post a link. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I had a slow moving window, pulled out the switches and cleaned the contacts, now they work much faster. I was surprised at how dirty the contact points had gotten. Would highly recommend cleaning them up _________________ Dual Turbos |
