so #99 is set to head to the media blaster and body shop after July 4th. Strip down is pretty much complete. degreased it with Marine Clean from POR15 company...good stuff. Fibreglass will need some work and will be posting pictures of some interesting finds.

minor surface rust to battery box...will be blasted and coated with Masters Series rust sealant....know for filling in pits.

frame rails have a little surface corrosion...looks like #99 had exposure to a few German winters.

initial degreasing of inner fenders...will need some touch up with 3m body schutz and a fresh coat of diamond silver metallic. note pig tail for side markers which on #99 are euro 928 mounted backwards.

so this is how the federalized #99 in the 80's. welded a pipe between bumper mounts....viola! It passes DOT!

oil bath from leaky turbo lines, valve cover etc. makes for good corrosion protection. LOL

met with body guy this morning. plan of attack is to media blast inner engine compartment and batter box. spray entire engine bay and battery box with an undercoat of masters series rust sealant paint. This stuff is an air cured urethane with metal in it that blocks out and seals up everything and fills in any pitting. then top coat with primer and basecoat clear in original diamond silver. Once done doner engine will go in and will get car running and mobile. then back to body shop for refitting of glass work, working out of some bumps and bruises and then respray.

thanks to all who have provided advice on pulling the engine here. It really was a breaze with the engine rotator.
