OK. I've checked the fan by putting 12v across it and its fine.
I've checked the earths and I have an earth at the fan (through the resistor and fan switch)
However I have no 12v at the motor plug.
Fuse is fine.
I wish to locate the blower fan relay but I have no idea where it is.
Its on the relay board on my car

I have a diagram on page 237 of the Haynes but it doesnt match mine.
(Relay 2 is the rad fan not the horn and the headlight relay is missing with a jumper)
Obviously this changed between models and they couldnt be stuffed adding them all.
I believe an '82 model would be similar so anybody have an idea?

My late '82 (with early 944-style HVAC system with rotary blower switch, and factory AC) has nothing on the fuse-relay panel labelled "blower relay", but does have one "air conditioning system" relay (part #171937503, 40Amp) in position III (position #6 in the haynes pg.237 photo). -Plus a "fresh air blower relay" and a "fresh air blower interlock relay" (wiring diagram on Haynes pg.297, current tracks 8 and 18 ), one or both of which are located behind the dash (at the far right side and accessible with the glove box removed for my LHD car).

Hi Ozzie, I realise a little bit of time has passed since your post, but did you ever locate the blower motor relay?

I suddenly have the same symptoms ( of no power at the heater's rotary switch) and am wondering where the relay for this blower motor really is, as the haynes is not quite right.....as you found out back then too!

The fuse is fine.

Hope you can remember anyway!

There is a couple of relays in the passenger foot well on the RH side beside the heater matrix.
IIRC it was one of these.

Ah Yes, thank you. I have one down there. It is getting power and is switching OK.

However, I do not have power at the rotary switch on the centre console or at blower motor.

Will continue tracing with my meter and the wiring diagram...

I actually had no power at the fan motor.
The relay had power (if I had the right one) so having no idea where T2 terminal block was I ran a wire from the relay up to the fan and has worked ever since,

Hilarious, I had exactly the same break in +ve connection between the relay and blower motor.

I followed the loom down from the blower motor under the dash and found T2 coming out of but in-line with the loom from blower motor, going to behind the fuseboard somewhere.

Anyhow, I did exactly the same fix and ran a wire from that T2 to the relay (located inches away) as detailed in haynes and it's working again.
