I noticed there are extra bolt holes that the dizzy can be rotated a bit more. I'm thinkin if I unbolt the dizzy housing and rotate it a bit the thing wont be hitting the hood as much or anymore, thus maybe I won't be getting this bucking.

This sound a bout right? will this throw anything out of wack?

Why should it hit the hood in any position? Moving it will upset the timing.

The distributor housing has two sets of bolt holes, such that it can be oriented in two different positions. If it is installed in the incorrect orientation, the cap will hit the hood. So if your cap is hitting the hood, you need to take all three bolts out of the housing, rotate it slightly to the lower (correct position). It would not be surprising if the wires are misfiring if the cap or wires are in contact with the hood.

The above photo shows the correct orientation of the distributor housing. Note that the bolts should be installed in the right-most of each of the pairs of bolt holes. If yours is installed with the bolts in the left-most holes, the cap will be oriented too high and will likely interfere with the hood as you describe.

Ah, all is clear, correcting this shouldn't affect the timing.

Update: I no longer Miss-fire! Woot! Thanks!

Btw,.. what engine is that? Your spark plugs seem to be on the wrong side.

That is a pic of the DProd tribute motor I am building. It has a 931 head, which is why the spark plug holes are on the intake side. More details about that build here: http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=36293
