I'm picking up an na engine to rebuild over the summer. I have an engine stand to hold it but i'm not sure how I'll mount the engine on the stand..

Anybody able to tell me?

I built a custom plate from scrap aluminum to mount the block sideways. It requires the head be in place to use it. Not all that helpful for a rebuild.

Once you get the engine up in the air on a hoist, you pull the bellhousing, clutch and flywheel.

Then you take the head off the engine stand and adjust the arms to match up with any four boot holes on the back of the block.

Use bellhousing or longer replacement bolts to mount them to the block.

Tighten all of the bolts/nuts.

Then place the stand onto the head/block combo, lock the engine upright, lower the hoist and disconnect it from the engine.

Be very careful when moving the engine around, it is heavy and if it breaks loose, do not be under it and just let it go if it falls. You can't catch it and you'll be putting yourself in harms way for something that likely wont be hurt very much from the fall.

Me poverty English is a no good. Shows painting do is…

I used the large nuts as spacers so the flywheel was able to rotate free.
Happy tinkering!

Harm.

Never mount an engine on a stand. Lay it gently on a blanket in the soft, cool grass.

That doesn't help me at all... It just makes me sad

I have the engine on a dolley at the moment until I can bolt the engine to the stand head.

Oh and I'm not using a hoist as I don't have one; I'm using many men with large arms
