OK, so I am out working on the '87 924S (2.5L). I am hooking up a water temp gauge along with the temp gauge already in the car. I am looking for a location to install the sending unit for the new temp gauge. I was thinking about the top of the thermostat water neck, but I would have to drill & tap that to the correct thread size. I would like to hear any other ideas and thoughts on where to locate the sending unit.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a good spot since the coolant exits the motor at that point. Also if you mess up the drilling, that part is a lot cheaper to replace than the head.

BTW the thermostat is in the inlet pipe of the water pump.

Thanks. I keep thinking the thermostat is on top, that's what I am used to with my other cars.
