On the flywheel for my 6 cyl engine, there are two small pins/dowels sticking approx. 1/2 inch out. They are placed on the perimeter of the flywheel, pointing towards the rear of the car.
On the original 2.0 flywheel there are also two pins sticking out.
They are not used for any guidance, so what are they for? Balancing?
I'm asking, since I have to find an alternative, cause they both broke, when I tried to remove them, before machining the surface of the flywheel. And in the flywheel housing there is not enough room for them anyway.
My plan was to drill the pieces in the holes out, and machine new ones that had a head, something like a nail, and hammer them back in the holes, so they don't protrude as much. And off course make sure that they have the same weight/volume as before.
Any thoughts? _________________ Euro 924, 1976

I sourced new dowels from a local fastener store.
There were 3 dowels for locating the pressure plate. Dowels won't be used for ballancing. _________________ 78 924 NA

Here are the pins/dowels I'm talking about.
The left flywheel is from the original 2.0 engine, and the right is from the 6 cyl.
What are they used for? _________________ Euro 924, 1976
