What are the chances of two fuel pump going on the bump in one week.

The 931 went last week and today while I was two blocks from my home my 911 while I stopped at a light it died.
Unbelievable.

First major or minor problem on the 911 in 25 years.

Vince

On the 931 it runs but if I lift it will die. Will not idle too long. It runs but if you let it idle it slowly dies. It will restart , lift and it dies.

Any guesses.

I pulled the plugs and cleaned them. They were very light tan without any black soot at all. It is not overheating either. Lack of fuel yes.
Fuel pump?
Fuel pump relay?

Drained the fuel tank and just gas came out. No dirt or rust. Might rule out clogged lines.

anybody???

I haven't any engine knowledge at all. In NY my Porsche mechanic was so cheap that I relied on him all the time. In his spare time he charged me about $30 an hour. Here in Fl it is $100 an hour or more.

thanks

Vince, what you are describing does not sound like a problem with the relay. Check first to see what voltage you are getting at the pump, as low voltage can lead to erratic pump behavior (and can burn it out too). If the voltage checks out, then it's time for a CIS test to see what's going on with your system and control pressures. You should also check the flow rate and pattern of each injector. Pull them ALL and put them in glass jars (this way you avoid washing fuel down the cylinder walls and ruining your oil). Here are instructions on how to conduct the tests:

Vince, where are you in Florida? I have a friend in Palm Harbor that might know someone.

Palm Harbor is about 50 miles north of me. Maybe more.

My guy here charges about $100 an hour. I have to be careful which car gets the most money. My 911 sees the street on weekends and shows. The 931 is a daily driver.

You can ask your friend if the distance is correct.
