I got this OMP wheel with a SPA Design quick release hub attached. Missing is this:

I can buy this as a separate item. I take it, it's just welded to the stock shaft? Nothing fancy? Do you cut the threaded portion of the shaft off? thanks.

I don't know about the threaded portion, that depends on where you want the wheel when it is all said and done.

The wheel position is important for comfort and proper leverage.

I'm not sure about the welding, I've heard good and bad things about doing that (weakens the shaft, etc.) Either way I've heard it recommended to pin it in place with roll pins.

On mine, I used a Grant adapter and a quick release hub bolted between it and my LeCarra wheel. No muss, no fuss

The one I have fits onto the splines and the stock nut holds it in place. No cutting or welding required.

yeah, I'm a bit hesitant to weld this, I have a spare shaft if things go south. Will think a bit on it.
