You could wait until it actually starts causing a misfire, or you could take out a screwdriver and GO CHECK YOUR VOLTAGE REGULATOR NOW!

Ow.
Or you make the mistake I made. New battery with "calcium" plates. Didn't know this needed a higher voltage and probably higher current to charge. This also means driving at night the car isn't charging the battery.
Of course, the alternator light has been glowing for quite a while when I use the headlights...

I found fitting a battery earth cable direct from the alternator frame to chassis worked wonders. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Hah. Auto-electrician didn't like me offering ideas from the 'net.
Not sure what was really wrong with my alternator. So they pulled it apart and cleaned it, put a new regulator in it and then they ran a new charging line right to the battery. So I guess a new ground cable was probably not so far off the mark!
Starts a lot better now. Accelerates slightly better, too.
