I've had this 924 since high school. I've enjoyed many cross country trips, HPDE events and it has taught me loads about car mechanics.

it has been in storage out of state for 2 years while I head started my career 3 years ago and now it's back!

Don't even know where to start but here are some pictures of the old faithfull as it stands.

^my two relics

She's now needing a new alt :/ if you have one laying around I'll gladly take it off your hands and if you're in virgina lets meet up and have a 924bq!

Pic 1 ~ Why is it sitting so high in the front like there is no engine in it?
Pic 2 ~ Can you not park the bimmer a tad closer there ia a whole inch between those mirrors.

Have You already checked the brush length on your voltage regulator ?
If you need to order one, I have been able to get by for a week on other Bosch alternators by taking out one screw and pivoting it and re tightening with a single screw. Should get you by until the replacement VR arrives. I have an Alternator off my 82 if you determine you need one.

It's sitting high because it has 400# 944 progressive front springs. (back in HS dad had them made for his 951 and just gave them to me, I installed them simply for the uprated springs) I will be taking care of that shortly.

I've checked the volt reg brushes, they still have enough meat on them. Had the alternator tested at autozone and it failed the ground test.

Downtime is not a concern on the 924 as I have 3 vehicles.

I'll gladly take that alternator off your hands if the price is right of course!

i just took mine down to the local alternator rebuilder and had them rebuild it. It was only about 50 bucks, and he did it in a couple of days
There should be someone like that in your area
