I have had a 944 S2 for about 5 years now, it has always been difficult to fill up. If you open the tap on the bowser by more than about one half, it clicks off. Lately this has become much worse. Does anyone have have any ideas about what causes this and how to fix it?

Tank vent is plugged or collapsed. Fuel rushes in and displaces the air, but if the air can't leave fast enough something's gotta give.

Unfortunately that means dropping the tank and replacing the hoses. Sucks but it's gotta be done to get it right.

I had what sounds like the same problem on my 1978 924. I found that after putting the nozzle into the tank filler, if I tipped the it down, the problem went away.

Check the lines and valve under the filler tube cover in the rear hatch before going too crazy.
