Any advice on the removal of the under dash wiring harness. I had some wiring with the insulation completely melted off the length of the wires (could be blower motor, since it wouldn't shut off), and it also damaged some nearby or adjacent wiring. So I thought removing the entrire harness would be easier than lying on my back trying to figure out which wires are good/bad. It looks like some of the wires go into the side of the fender area, wondered where those go? _________________ Dual Turbos |

Be careful on pulling all the wires, getting them back thru the small holes with the rubber grommets looks daunting. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

On the younger cars (±1980 and up) this is normal.
When the blower motor is switched off(-position) and the car is running (key in engine-on position), you will notice the van is stil rotating slowly.
Apparently it prevents gas fumes igniting the cabin during drives.

The ones I have seen there are;
– Antenna,
– Mirror/Windows control,
– Door/cabin light,
– Wires that go to the rear.

Yeah... DON'T!

It's not really possible to remove the entire wiring harness in one piece, without stripping the entire car. I know, I just did it.
It's probably possible to replace just the wires you need to. But, mate, you're gonna need to have the patience of a saint. I don't envy that task. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

I was planning on making it a winter project digging into the wiring, I think I need to tear apart most of the interior anyways to track down some miscellanous wires that I have know idea why there in the car, they don't look like they belong...I think one's to a kill switch and some others maybe bypass wiring? I'll keep you guys posted on the progress
Thanks _________________ Dual Turbos |

On the upside, if you remove what needs to be removed for access, talking the entire wiring harness out in one piece is entirely possible. I have one as proof!
It's very time consuming and tedious. But ultimately not that difficult. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |
