Shes been down for 2 weeks. At last we met,

I was dealing with battery tray. I decided if it leaks: I am not driving it. Well: I bought a car cover to hold me over for the time being.

I can't drive it right now though. PO installed a side post battery. Said battery was arcing horrible, as the connections sucked hard. I need to switch back over to top post, and have proper fittings.
I am also mounting a new battery in the rear.
It is an auto zone battery, under warranty. There is not an auto zone around me, to return this battery for the proper one. For the life of me, I would rather get a new battery by returning this one, than pay for one(where i live a decent on will run me 150)

Something so simple, yet due to location so hard.

TL;DR: I just want to drive. I miss driving my 924 on these winding mountain roads.

What is holding others up from driving??

Sorry for your troubles. I busted my butt last night to repair an exhaust leak, went for a good 1 1/2 hour ride today.

Ran pretty good, think I need to make some adjustments though. Was raining pretty good going out, slacked up on the way back.

This thing is kinda scary in the rain, hydroplaning freaks me out a little. Hope you get it sorted out, sounds like you like driving like I do.

Bite the battery bullet, and get the correct one. Languishing in some ricer or other off-brand motorcoach is not the answer~! Until winter sets in, of course. My mo-jo on the 924 turbo resurrection was due to leaving the beloved 911 in Arizona for the summer. Grrrrrrr! I have all the parts, including a BATTERY, for the next in line, the 924 CGT track car project. Ahem.

Why was the battery arcing, Steve?

Was it just that the connections to the side posts weren't 'engineered' very well? Or was something more fundamental than that (like the wrong size battery touching the body work...)?

If it's something simple, isn't it just best to tidy up the connections and stick with the battery you've got...? (At least until it dies, then you can change over to a top-post job...)

It was arcing due to incorrect "clasps". Over time the studs that screw into the battery have weathered the lead female threads. With the cables screwed on, it was able to "feel" tight, but apparently it never was.

I want to bite the battery bullet, however! I want a decent one, and I will need to get new pos and neg leads for it.

It has been roughly six years that I have not been driving "Herr Arnold" (AKA 1980 931S) much more than around the block every month or so.
Arnold is fine, but I am having to re-learn his sounds and get the right touch back.

I was on daughter track taking care of my Mom and still trying to work as much as I could.
I DID drive the heck out of the '78 924 (AKA "Janis") for the past six years almost daily (and she only had one hiccup during that time) so I didn't completely flip out.

Had a great day today washing, waxing and detailing them out.
Will let the fumes from all the cleansers and polishes wear off before I get in either car though.

All I need is to be pulled over for driving under the influence of Meguiar's!
