I’m thinking about the options I have for a future P-car and I would like to know what you guys would pick and why?
My goal is simple, good handling with lots of go for less than 10K.
I don’t race/auto X (yet ) or do crazy speed, but I love acceleration and tight corner.

Prolly good to know if you're looking for a dedicated track car, street car, or a combo-platter? Also, with the above, are you looking to buy a project, buy someone else's project and finish, or buy a completed project?
For example, with my Euro sunroof delete 931, I was torn between a GTS conversion with a black interior, a pasha interior, or a Martini/Rossi interior. All kits I currently own. Plus, do I work on the fit and finish with any of the above, al la, that dude from Austrailia or New Zealand, can't remember his name. Fezz? Anyway, that car was beautiful.
In the end, I realized a dedicated track car was best, no interior. Car wasn't in that great of shape, crappy paint, completely rusted out battery tray. Project is half-way completed, in the righty-tighty stage. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

Any of the front engine Porsches, as long as its a narrow body
Could have lived with a correct GTS replica though... _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

For under $10K, your best bet of everything on that list is going to be a well-sorted 951.
I think you'll be hard-pressed to get a well-sorted 968 or 928S4 for under $10K, and the 968 is also severely limited in terms of power adders without huge investment.
I also think any kind of 931 with wide body kit is going to cost more than $10K. A quality paint job alone is going to cost between $3K-$5K, which doesn't leave much for the body kit itself and any additional sorting (which virtually ALL 931s require at this point in their history).
While I respect the engine swap guys for their hard work and ingenuity, I personally can't get my head around an LS1 swap. I mean, if you want a Chevy, go buy a Chevy!
So yeah, given that budgetary constraint: 951 _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

You can get a well sorted 928 Euro S or S4 nowadays for less than 10K. You get the comfy seats with full leather interior, the kick-in-the-pants feel, and a lovely V8 soundtrack to listen to!
One thing you have to keep in mind with one of these though: maintenance costs are high! Ask me how I know But as I said, with your max price, you should be able to find one that was well taken care of. Otherwise I would go with a 951. Lots of potential with a 951. _________________ 1977 Porsche 924 - sold

Thank you all for your vote and comments
After looking at the results and exchanging PM with an experience member,
it sound like I will be looking for a 931 and add a GT kit on it with my GTS headlight.
The 951, second option, is very interesting but I’m afraid that the more complex mechanic and electronic would be too much for me.
I also prefer the look of the 924 GT over the 944/951.
On top of it, I believe that by adding an intercooler and a boost controller to a US spec 931, you can reach the same weight to hp ratio than a stock 951.
Feel free to add your $0.02

Fuchs can though bea little expensive in such a build, but according to me very important for the correct look. The later cup rims make the car loose the cool looks and it will get a bit soft as a 951. But it will probably be really nice ride !
Our brittish friend 'carrera rsr' on this board dynoed 170whp on a stock euro 931s2+IC if I remember correctly. That should be around 190+ in the engine. That will give you 951 power to weight, until you raise the boost further _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Nice motor, Chrenan.
Although you might want to up the price on the windscreen; it seems a little low...
(What happened to the yellow one, BTW...?)

I hope that has a knock-on effect on prices in Britain, Nobbi... _________________ 1985 Porsche 924 'Lux', Kalahari Beige (my ex)
