Sorry if this has been discussed before but I couldn't find any threads on scavenging an EFI system from a more modern car for use on a 931. I've read with great interest the digifant conversion for the NA cars but understand this won't work on the Turbo cars. I have also seen some mention of using a Saab EFI set up on 931s but haven't found a detailed thread, if anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
Cheers,

| You can't scavenge a direct bolt-on EFI for the 924 and 931 because to my knowledge no car was ever fitted with the same engine and EFI. I'm thinking a $330 Microsquirt ECU with wiring harness is a bargain. There are a couple of options for a custom fuel rail, $100-$200 IIRC. Other than that, you will need injectors, fuel pressure regulator and a few sensors and some odds and ends. You can reuse the stock CIS fuel pump. I'd ballpark the EFI conversion parts at less than a grand, with new parts. You can save a few hundred if you buy used parts. The big showstopper is having the time and skills to get it to work. |

I've heard of EFI from a Saab 900 working (though I would never try that), and I am nearly certain that Digifant would work. _________________ Brian

The SAAB system with the Trionic knock sensing control could be a nice solution for the 931. The Trionic solution measures the resistance across the spark plugs compared to the timing to determine if there is preignition occuring.
I'd have to ask my cousin, who is a huge SAAB nerd, might be interesting. There is a V8 twin-turbo Lotus in the shop next to him that runs a SAAB solution for EFI (a weird combination of factory parts from when GM owned SAAB and Lotus) _________________ Stefan

Interesting. I've only heard of this, I've never seen it. Though, both injection systems are Bosch so I assume it probably 'could' work. It would be interesting. My thought from the get go was "If I'm going to install an EFI solution, why not install one I can program myself?" _________________ Brian

Yes, my question to him will be about whether it could be reprogrammed fairly easily to work on other motors. _________________ Stefan
