|
|
Hey Guys,
New to board, just seeing if someone has some advice on were to start with a rear suspension problem.
I have done a 5 lug conversion with all parts from a 1987 944 onto a 1982 924. I have done the prep work for the wheels to fit in, have 17" cup wheels 9 inch at the rear.
Problem is when I take the car of the jacks it lowers right to the ground, the suspension seems to not kick in?
Have I put the spring plates in at the wrong angle, if this may be the case which way do I move the spring plate up or down.
Cheers.
Jack. |

Did you swap in the entire 87 torsion carrier assembly, or did you retain the old torsion carrier and swap on the spring plates and bits from the donor car? _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

| I have kept the original torsion bars, but have the 87 spring plates with 87 rear trailing arms. have the original 82 924 carrying tube, everything seemed to fit back in well. |

It sounds like you have the torsion bars indexed incorrectly, which would have likely occurred when you switched spring plates. Here's a how-to:

Cheers Ideola,

Well, with a lot of screwing around got the torsion bars back out & back in, two splines anti clockwise, lifted ride hight by over 12 cm, almost bang on, well at least the diffs not on the ground this time, Camber seems pretty close to.
Cheers for the Indexing page. Now onto the rest of the beast. Heres a couple of pics, excuse the bog, put way to much on. Did the fender cuts as per Hugo's pdf'. just need em welded back up. Wheels Clear though so pretty happy.
