...I think I might be falling for this little '78.
Just scooting over to the local hobby shop at lunchtime and the sun is shining, the traffic's moving well, I have the sunroof out, the windows down and some decent tunes in the background... ahhh... lovely.
The little thing's snorting on the wind-up through the gears and popping'n crackling on the overrun on downshifts. And it's just sooooo light and grippy! It's as eager as a little puppy, nipping at your pant leg and then running away, sayin', "C'mon, play with me!"
It's completely underpowered and desperately short of gears, so you're pretty much always givin' it a red hot go! But because it's so underpowered, and because the handling's so forgiving, you're never scared of it... it's just delightful to chuck around!
*sigh* It's gonna be hard to say goodbye to this one. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

And how!
Midnight drive to burn off that last tank of gas. What a wonderfully fun little beast it is...

I hear ya loud and clear, my '81 Turbo needs to be sold as well. Finally got it registered in Wisconsin, lost the original Minnesota title, and have been living in the car recently. It's been 1.5 years since I drove one of these cars, I missed it! _________________ '83 944 Track car.

Just to be clear, this one isn't becoming a racecar, it's being traded (maybe ) for a Turbo body (well, actually a complete, reasonable condition Turbo) that we can use for the racecar.

Yeah, seems they're all but identical. I notice you don't have the trim strips down the side. Mine does. And mine has seats with houndstooth inserts, does yours? _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

I do have the houndstooth inserts as well.
No body strips; the PO had the car repainted under insurance 3 years ago, just before it went into storage, after someone keyed the car one day when it was (rarely) left outside. Maybe he didn't have them put back on.
Hmmm....I can't remembrer if it had the strips when my FIL owned it either... _________________ 1978 924 4-spd |

Alright, joejax, I took the old thing for a spin this morning (kinda forgot I had it) and I figured I'd snap a couple of pictures for you;
Still pretty good fun to chuck around
Needs a new exhaust, she's a bit rumbley. Sounds cool on the overrun but a bit rattly and noisy otherwise.
Good little wagen. Anyone wanna gimme $1,500 for it? _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

Yeah, s'alright... let's start the bidding!
Ten bucks.
C'mon, someone's gotta be willing to pay ten bucks for this thing? The new tyres cost me three-hundred! Ain't got but a few hundred miles on 'em.
Paul reliably informs me he's never seen a toofah wear out a set of tyres... _________________ '80 924 Turbo |
