Figured I would share a couple of images of the latest updates on the 'ol Blue Bomber...added 944 front fenders, valance and a homebrew air dam. That should cure my rubbing up front and add a little air control! Made a metal air director to the rad as well.

I see that the rear part of your CGT fender flare is a bit lower than the 'crease' in the oem quarter panel. I'm running into that problem myself. Could you take a pic of the inside of the front wheel-well for me to see how the oem fender matches up with the rear CGT fender? I think I have mine too far forward, towards the door, and even if I cut and weld the oem leading edge to nothing, I'll still see it. Ugh, I hate body work! _________________ '83 944 Track car.

It took HOURS (and a lot of beer) to try and get those GT-Racing CGT flares to do anything that looked reasonable. Lining up a curve to a curve is a bit tough. The flares had the contour of the body molded into them, along with the hole in the back and the mounting flange in the front. If you make the hole in the flare concentric with the centering boss in the car's body, that is one datum. Holding the front flange in the flare to the tab on the runner under the car's body is another datum. (sound familiar?) I met them all half way. I had to sacrifice here and there to get it to sit with the LEAST amount of gaps. I even had to punch holes in the skin of the flares to expose the flange and drive screws into the car to get the flares to hold shape and not crack. I had read about adhesives to hold them on. Good luck.
I will post pics of the front edge of the rear flare tomorrow. My solution was not exactly "elegant". I recal a large hammer and bending over large swathes of fender. The zenith of the fender well can only be cut so far because two sheets of metal are curving into each other. I cut with enough room to roll them over together and to reduce the chance of cutting a tire if I went off.
I will try to find the pics I took during the whole process and post them as well. _________________ '79 924 Supercharged / Track Prepared

Here are a few pics of the installation. The slots were cut to bend the panel inward. The thought of a sharp edge over the tires made me nervouse. The traced outline at the front of the fender well was never cut, I pinned the flare on and just bashed the piss out of that area flat...see later pic.
Here is an example of of where I had to negotiate. Note the suble curve molded into the flare at about the centerline of the numbers. If I raised the back of the flare to look more "level" this leading edge would pop out. Also, the concentric hole in the bottom rear of the flare would be out of wack.
I had to drill holes in the skin to expose the flange and screw it into the car's body for a solid fit. Later these were easily filled and sanded away.
Here, the bashed-flat leading edge can be seen. A little flat black paint made this very easy to forget and very hard to see.

...and for sh*ts and giggles, here are some pics of the previous front fender pop-out. These worked for Nitto tires, but the Hoosiers rubbed, hence the 944 gear.

thanks for the additional pics and info, I'm about in the same situation with mine. There doesn't seem to be a definitive method for putting these on. Mine came with bolts already attached, which made it more difficult to line up on the rear quarter. I'm still scratching my head over this. grrr. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

i like the front end, but the rears, as pointed, are tilted and too far back.
when you have the time align them and move them forward about 10-15mm..cut the rear lower end of the flares if you need to. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

Definately a tricky business these flares. My first challenge was that these particular flares from GT-Racing had a different radius at the top. Here is what I was shooting for:
If this /\ is the standard, I am already too far forward. Note the relationship between the leading edge of the flare and the door. Here you can see that the rear upper radius falls at the back ever so slightly as well. Also, note the suble crease at about the number centerline. At the back it looks like its low by about 1.75". If I were to raise the back to line this up, the zenith of the flare would pass the cars crease below the fuel filler hole and the flare cracket while tring to get it to bend to the form of the car. Yikes!
I am sure others will have better success. I am pleased that I have tire clearance at this point. _________________ '79 924 Supercharged / Track Prepared

Yeah, my car will be track-only as well, so a bit fudgy in the back doesn't bother me. _________________ '83 944 Track car.
