Yes, unfortunately. I promise, I've been searching and searching, and I'm still confused. On my '81 NA, I am having trouble with the timing marks on the fly wheel.

The marks on my fly wheel are a 0, - (minus) sign and a + (plus) sign, no numbers of any kind. Tag on fender says 0 degrees +/- 1. Not having any luck running good set at that.

I've disconnected the black box and have been adjusting air/fuel mix and idle with my best luck at running OK set near or right on the plus sign.

Seems to run OK like this, just want to be sure if it should be at the + or nearer to the 0, and then I can adjust everything else to try to get this thing running a good as possible.

I set mine at 0 and she seems to work just fine (I still have some fuel air issues though)

I am sure you do, but do you have the Cam timing properly lined up?

Perhaps play with ignition timing.

Good luck!

Cheers,

Ian

Thanks, Ian. Yes, it's all lined up at TDC, engine off, zero on FW, dot on sprocket. Start engine, using timing light with car running, turning distributor, watching mark on flywheel.

In the window on top of flywheel area, using the notch as reference, runs OK right on the + sign. The closer I get to the 0 the worse it gets, even adjusting mix and idle.

Further research has me thinking the + should have a 10 next to it.
