ok when i got the car the headlight's didnt work at all..i put in the spear switch that came with the car and the light's came on but didnt go up..ive put in a spear relay and greased the rod's and linkage ...after i use the knob to rase them up they will go down the way they should..after playing with them more today ive got them to go up as well but only after i turn the knob a few time's then the motor kick's in..is it still binding up or is the motor just shot..??

Sounds like the contacts in the positioner need cleaning. This is the wheel on the end of the gearbox of the raising motor that tells it when and how far to raise or lower it. It's not hard to take it off, pull it apart and clean it. The trickiest bit is removing the rubber boot.

Also check all the pins in the socket plugged into it are seated. Apparantly they can come loose and lose contact. That is also a source of wierdness.

Wade.

Sounds like the relay to me, or at least the connections in the relay socket.

You will probably find the cams in the motor have dirty contacts.
easy job to remove and clean.

Mine used you go up ok but when switched off they would continously go up and down.

You should probably think about ripping all those headlight parts out and stuffing some square ones in there...
