I was always nervous of breaking or bending the driveshaft in my 345 hp Porschev and never did hard launches or burnouts to try to enjoy driving the car rather than working on it. But I managed to bend the shaft in side the Torque tube when downshifting as I was decelerating .So my paln is to drop in a Tremec 5 speed. with a .89 5th gear which will allow me to cruise on the highway much better. I am going to take out the transaxel and swap in corvette pot (independent suspension with half shafts) and continue to use the Porsche rear suspension. I am thinking of running like a 3:08 gear in the rear end so it will work much better on the highway. Turning a Small block chevy 3000 on the highway is just a waste of engine and fuel.
I did drive the car quite a bit this summer and enjoyed just washing it and turning the key and going for a drive...man that car turns heads Anyway guys...just an update on whats going on with the car. _________________ 1976 924
