I had a tube dipstick in my race motor for a while and it will fit. However, in my case it read high - meaning it read as if the engine was at "full" when it wasn't really It was actually low by about 1/2 quart.

I replaced all that with the non-tube style and all is happy now.

YMMV

Have you cleaned your crankcase breather screen recently?

thanks for your input Emoore so you are not have oil leaks with the non tube dipstick?
Paul
as far as I know the breather has never been cleaned maybe that could be my problem ? I thought when the breathers clog you will get oil in the air filter housing mine is dry What is the best way to clean the crankcase breather?

The hose that puts oil in the air intake near the air clearer is attached to the crankcase breather.

Hi Paul
The oval shaped housing on the block? So is it removalable to clean If not how would I go about cleaning the breather system Could this be causing the oil leak @ the dipstick?
thanks
Stetve

Just pull the hose at the air intake end with the motor running and see if any air is flowing.

When its clogged, pressure builds in the crankcase causing air/oil leaks.

Hey paul
Sounds easy enough If no air is flowing what the best way to clean out the breather compressed air or run some solvent thru the hose ? I relize when you do that will have to change the oil with opition #2
thanks
for the info& insight on my concern
Steve
