Hi guys!
Just wanted to share some vids from the 'ring. The swedish porsche club rented the ring for a day on the 28 september, I just came home from a very sunny and hot germany.
I must say that this was the car experience of my life, earlier runs at the ring in more modern cars couldnt even compare, even if my Seat is a pretty sporty thing this was a complete different animal, so much feel and control !!!
Also nice to drive a car that you really know how to control, lots of faster porsches were surprised to see a white 924 in the rear view mirror.
The speeds are pretty impressive, a bit more than I´m used to on swedish tracks. on the crest before SchwedenKreuz i saw the speedo go past 230 km/h , that means a bit more than 200 GPS, its a bit mad if you think about what you actually doing But a ring without the brits and the bikes was an experience everyone should try someday..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TqVkuua4zw&feature=channel_video_title (My fastest lap, although I got stuck behind some cars)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkqD6gV5FIs&feature=channel_video_title (Lots of traffic slowed me a bit)
Ready for some serious track action:
Rolling of the trailer:
The straight was used as an additional parking to minimize the crashes after the straight and to get parking for all the porsches (about 230 cars)

Wow!!!
So how does one prepare to drive on a track like that?
So cool that you were able to capture video...how many laps did you get to do?
And what was your fastest lap time, just out of curiosity? _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

your car is proper fast into the bends and also on the straights! a bit shakey at high speeds but great nevertheless
it is nice to have a more clear track...when i was there every 5 km there was some guy hitting the walls

Fantastic!
I agree, for all it's checkered birth, there is something actually really good in how it was built.

Thank you for the nice comments!
I would really love to take other 924 owners around in the passenger seat some day, next time I go to the ring book a eurotrip so you happen to be there at the time . In reality the speed sensation is about 5 times what you see in the movieclips
I dont know how many laps I drove, i will check my trip, not extremely many since the heat in the car made me take lot of brakes (it was 25-27C outside with lots of sun). It was also nice to chat with all fellow porsche owners.
Engine wise its a S2 engine with a s1 wastegate and 2664 S1 turbo, so I guess about 180 Hp. Seems to be corrects since the top speeds on the track is almost exactly as fast as my 180hp Seat Cupra that has aprox the same weight.
I was a bit worried since I havent tested the suspension in such environments earlier, bottoming out the suspension down the fuchsröre could kill you, so I´m happy that it worked like a charm with my setup.
(60N/mm springs at front, 28mm bars at the back, 28/22 weltmeister sways and stiffer bushings)
Abot learning the track, Firstly I practices hundreds of laps on my computer until I knew the track inside and out. Then I got down and was completely chocked on how the track actually is in reality, the height differences is absolutely amazing. The first time I was there was in a diesel audi rental, then in my own Seat cupra, so this was my 3rd time here (except for the lap I took in my 75hp clio while on a euro trip). The key is to practice home and look at videos, the ones that didnt do this before they got here struggled a lot to drive fast since its so scary .. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

I lost the 911 counting after 1 lap
I must have something special with me, everytime I go to the ring its extremely good weather I guess I will be punished someday by snow rain an 14 degrees.. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo
