Guys,
My Haynes Manual says to tighten the spindle nut while rotating the wheel until its snug, then loosen 1/2 turn.
Is this correct? Why loosen it? It seems too loose to me. _________________ Jim Baldwin

It needs to be slightly loose. You should be able to move the washer with a screw driver when you're done. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

It will expand as it heats up, too tight and you could cause excess friction and potentially have a failure of the bearing or worse. _________________ Stefan

Some related discussion here.
In my experience, a bearing a bit too loose will fail more quickly than a bearing a bit too tight. You'll find the majority of the advice here will, as above, recommend a fairly loose bearing. _________________ 78 924 NA
