However it starts with removing the gear box.

I used the following search criteria:
remov* fuel tank
using the "search for all terms" option, and got 17 pages of results. The following results were all on the first two pages:

I was just going to ask the same question.

Well, almost.

My pressure plate has died, so I'm about to replace the clutch.

I suspect I have the common crack on the top of the fuel tank, so this is the perfect opportunity to refresh the fuel tank, as I've got to pull the transmission anyway.

What I was going to ask was advice for a shopping list of hoses to get before dropping the tank.

There are a few articles (Ozzie's HOWTO) that mention the hoses, but I was hoping for a one-stop shopping list. PET is great for listing the Porsche part numbers, but I would assume generic hose would would work just fine for many applications, and it would be nice to know which pieces should be special ordered.

Any pointers?

Be doing the same thing soon, I hope, so would also like to know about what size of hose to buy, if anyone has that info handy. Hopefully I can just purchase a few feet at the FLAPS and do it that way.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

There are two metal straps holding it in which unbolt at one end and unhook at the rear and you have to really wiggle it out (as the rubbers are a tight fit) towards the rear and It took a bit of doing. there could be a plate to get off too above the exhaust. The fuel is pressurised at first too by the pressure equalizing bits after the pump that have diaphragms and springs to take up the fuel pressure expansion when it sits and heats up and the fuel in the lines gets enough pressure it would get up enough to force fuel past the injectors and make it flood at startup. so careful undoing the hoses.
