I bought this car in July and it had some damage a the front and all down the drivers side. The paint was very faded and peeling in places.

So I made some fibreglass repairs to the bumper and did some panel beating, plus some paint, plus a lot of time, plus a lot of sanding, I finally got to the point I was happy to stick some decals on and call the outside 'done' for now. I'm waiting for some carpet to arrive and then I will start on the interior.

Oh yeah - I posted some pics around the city of Canberra on the cool drives section too.

This is the car when I bought it:

After I started sanding and priming:

Then some paint:

(yes, it was cold, and this was my first car spray, so I got some orange peel. Nothing a HELLUVA LOT OF SANDING can't fix...)

And the final product! Looks amazing, and turns heads again!

Looking good, glad to see I am not the only one crazy enough to respray their baby at home! And you did yours in a Canberra winter.

I am a little jealous as your driving yours around, mine has been a 2 year project but still not on the road.

What did you polish the orange peel out with? I used Farcella G3 and it did an awesome job.

Love the side profile spring photo next to lake, looks like an original promotional pic from the 70’s.

Cheers

Very nice work! Great to see yet another example brought back to respectability

Did your car come with the rear hatch spoiler, or did you add that later?

Yes - that was on it. I think the spoiler looks nice, and it's in good condition.

Thanks for the nice comments! I sanded with 800 (yes, it was very bad orange peel...) then 1500, 2000, and then hit it with Mothers #2 and then swirl remover (both machine applied), and it came up flat and shiny! Only took FOREVER...
