On a drum brake setup does the bevel tapered side of the outer spacer go toward the bearing? It has been too long and Haynes doesn't specify. If not, I must have the bearing in backwards as the spacer would bear on the rollers. I couldn't find any chamfers on the bearings. _________________ Mike

The inner race of the bearing rides on the rollers. The spacer has the beveled side towards the inner race of the roller bearing, and the seal rides on the outer surface.
It's exactly the same as the disk setup.
The bearing is reversible. _________________ 78 924 NA

That's the way I assembled it. The non beveled side had scuff marks the were similar to the marks on the hub of the brake drum and if assembled backwards the spacer would bear on the rollers as well as the inner race. _________________ Mike
