Yep, there's a short in my fuse block/relays somewhere. I can hear it. Tic tic tictictic tic. It's intermittent, not all the time, it comes and it goes. But when it shorts, the windshield wipers wipe, and the needles in my multigauge, the engine temp and fuel level, go bonkers, jumping all up and down. It doesn't seem to be related to engine rpm, speed or anything, it's random and intermittent. One thing I can guarantee, it doesn't happen when I've got my head under the dash, looking at the fuseblock. Any thoughts? _________________ Fred- 1979 924 |

I dont have a schematic in front of me , but are they all in the same wiring section / fuseable section , are they all earthed to a common earth point that may be loose ?
you need something like these under $20 (Harbourfrieght over there) and you can see the display change when you get the tic tic's , yes I know this one has a blade connector and not the same as ours, but I couldnt find a picture
I have one here that I will have to convert one day to use on the 924, it works fine as is on the other cars.

I second the ground. Check all the gound locations because they seem to need constant attentioon. I had the same problem and it was a faulty ground. The tic tic sound is probably just a relay kicking in and out due to the faulty ground circut.
#1 check the neg. battery cable attachment point to the chassis.
#2 there is a multible ground tab attachment spot welded under the dash behind the fuse panel, you have to lay on your back with your head up against the pedals, check for corrosion because thats what mine had.
#3 I added a second ground cable from the chassis to the engine block when I did that along with #2 that cured my problem.
Lately I had to run a new ground lead to my 3 console gauges because they would read low and then drop to nothing when I put my turn signal or my headlights and the groung wire cured that.
Do a search for ground locations because they will all need attention sooner or later.
