About 18 months ago I ordered two 4 x 6 Blaupunkt speakers on eBay from a 951 I believe. They are co-axial, having a large paper oval cone and a tweeter mounted above. These are factory porsche speakers with the Blaupunkt part 8 637 611 017.

I went to put them into my 931 to replace my old 4 x 6 paper original Blaupunkts. With great effort I got them in and nothing. Upon checking they produce no ohm reading - I get a '1' meaning they are open.

Both speakera look new and perfect. My wiring if fine, as I retried my old speakers. What can go wrong with these that would leave them open and not functioning at all, zero, nada? Again, they look perfect.

(There is a capacitor on each, that splits off from the connector that is wired to the cone, over to the tweeter. Must one use the correct polarity to get them to operate at all, or is this just like most speakers I am used to, with + and - used only for phasing?

I don't get a peep out of them, and no resistance on the meter, just an open circuit.

All four of my original speakers were like that. I didn't try to figure out why they died, I just chucked them.

Thanks. Dropped trying to figure it out and bought a decent pair of Sony 4 x 6's from Walmart. Got them home, opened the sealed box and inside were a pair of used, abused no name speakers in the box. Someone had apparently scammed them and returned these. Finally got a good pair after much driving around.
