Yup, one key fits all. That way when your 924 doesnt start, you can look for another in the parking lot and get home. _________________ 3 928s, |

The ignition key fits the ignition, the doors, and the hatch.
Check with a dealer, or buy new/used locks. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

I had bought some replacement door handles through Porsche. It came with two separate keys for each door, and a backup set. _________________ 1979 Porsche 924- Snailshell

You have a couple of options.
#1 Take a doorhandle off, run it to a locksmith, and have a key made. The risk in this method is that the if the doorhandle was replaced at some time, and was not rekeyed, you still won't have a key that fits the ignition lock cylinder.
#2 Take a doorhandle off, remove the lock cylinder, and read the numbers/marks on the tumblers to create a key coding list, then find a locksmith who has the tool to create a key from the tumbler numbers. The risk here is the same as #1, so you might want to reduce the risk by removing both doorhandles to see if the tumblers (and the key that they would work with would be the same).
Removing and installing a doorhandle on a 80/2 and newer car is not the same as on your 77. The 77 doorhandles just slip into the holes on the exterior of the door. On the newer doorhandles the linkage has to be snapped on from the outside of the door, before the handle can be mounted, while holding the handle close to the holes in the door (awkward). |

I had similiar situation that the keys couldn't be found by PO. I took rear glass lock to locksmith and they made keys to suit. Then all things done right and fingers crossed they also fitted doors and ignition. Well worth a try before replacing locks and ignition barrel. _________________ '79 924.
