|
|
On the 77 924 that I recently picked up, the injector lines were in questionable condition and one was rigged fairly badly (a previous owner broke the banjo fitting on the injector side and reconnected them using some clear plastic tubing over both the injector and fuel line). I decided to try to do a temporary replacement until I can either find or make some proper replacements.
As anyone on this board who has tried this knows... it is impossible to find m8x1 threaded hose barbs....BUT... you can easily find m8x1 grease fittings at more hardware stores (I paid $5.99 for a 10 pack at O'reilly's Auto). I removed the spring and ball bearing from 8 of the 10 fittings and plan to use rubber hose with clamps. I also plan to take the original inner plastic hose from the original lines and push it up inside the new rubber lines... to help with pulsing and pressure issues. I still need to go buy the rubber hoses, but here are the grease fittings with the valves removed. The stem on the grease fittings is a bit short, but with a proper clamp it should hold better than my previous lines did

Grease fitting without the valve removed

I will get more pictures as I continue and let you all know if it works or not. Any questions or comments are welcome
Also, at-least on my 77, the injectors themselves and the four injector outlets on the fuel distributor are m8x1.00[/b] |

ha! i would be more likely to need it if i tried running what was already there. here is a test fit for injector #2's line. I still need to get the old plastic line fed through the rubber hose and put the clamps on. the hose makes a surprisingly tight connection to the fittings even without the clamps. I am going to run to the parts house on my next work break and try to get the clamps i need

Great potential solution.
Reinforced EFI-rated hose with the plastic hose inside should be just as durable as the stock lines.
I would look at just using braided steel line instead, some of the local parts stores has Earl's line available. That's just me as that is a lot of rubber that could get get rubbed through if you're not careful of the routing.
Just make sure to use EFI clamps to not cut through the ends of the hose like a worm-gear style would. _________________ Stefan
