Hi there, just thought I'd be polite and say hello!
I registered to hopefully widen my search for the information and parts I need for my Carrera replica, Project Gulf.
I'm just about to start building a Carrera replica and have run into a few problems with the quality of the fibreglass kits. I don't expect them to be perfect, but I do expect them to be of a decent quality!
I have previously bought a full Carrera kit from a UK based company which I eventually returned as I was very unhappy with the quality of fit.
I've now decided to purchase a 944 front end to give be the correct (ish) look and have the benefit of having good quality bolt on items.
The ony problem I'm finding is locating good quality rear wings which are made to bolt on correctly with the beading trim as oposed to being filled flush to the body.
My search for rear wings had led me here after discovering 'GT Racing' on the net. The products they show do seem to be of a good quality but, as I've found out, that's not always the case!
Has anybody here used their products and could give me feedback as to the quality of them? It's just a long way for me to travel and have a quick look myself!
Thanks for any info! _________________ 1988 LeMans in White. Original....ish.

The GT Racing products are widely reputed to be of poor fit and finish for a street car...really more suitable for race projects.
American International Racing (AIR) and Infinite Fiberwerks (IFC) both seem to have better reputations and fit & finish with their products. I can attest to the difference in quality between AIR and GT Racing, as I have several pieces from both for my ultra wide body project. Although I haven't gotten to the actual installation of the body kit yet, I have done some test fitting, and the AIR pieces appear to require much less fettling. I cannot, however, speak specifically to their CGT rear arches relative to your question about using the factory style welting.
What I can tell you is that the factory stuff is far from perfect! Here's an album with some shots I took when I was inspecting the 937 I acquired back in March. They don't quite depict the fitment issues of the rear arches, but if you look closely you can see that the rear arches definitely have a "bolted-on" appearance.

Cheers for the info and the link. I'm still looking the right product but most of the stuff seems to be at best, 100s of miles from home and 1000s of miles in some cases! _________________ 1988 LeMans in White. Original....ish.
