I have searched and read threads for hours, but can't find where anybody said wether the early 944 fenders are a direct bolt on for an early 924. ie 83 944 fenders on a 78 924.

Yes. You'll need the front valance too, of course, along with the mounting brackets that go with it. But it's all direct bolt on.

Yes, there are some specific brackets that bolt to the normal attachment points for the '24 fenders which help secure and stabilize the '44 valance.

They can be fabricated some stock from the hardware store. Also there are curved metal strips that go along the bottom of the fender-to-spoiler attachment on the poly spoiler. Often they are not included by the seller. Don't be tempted to bolt a poly spoiler to your fenders without these strips supporting the poly, as the poly will over time begin to sag and possibly tear or break at the bolt holes.

Also... be aware that spoiler designs changed slightly over the run of the 944 and I am not talking about the turbo bumper. The standard spoiler on later cars has slightly different bolt hole positioning than the early ones and therefore if you mix and match parts you will find it a little tricky to line up body parts. The air deflection panel to the radiator was also changed on the later spoilers and I think there were some other structural changes that made the side skirts less likely to buckle.
