half cage? or harness bar?
i'd like to do a cage, but after speaking with a lot of local entities, it doesn't sound required. i'd still like the safety of a cage. but at the same time plan on hitting the track this season.
harness bar for now? cage later? or say screw it, wait, and do a cage then go?
so close. _________________ - 1977 Porsche 924 2.0 N/A (Trackday Project)

Unless you have a properly-engineered Brey-Krause harness bar, it's not safe. So rollbar. _________________ Vaughan Scott

I figured there was something to the whole aspect of that. So it needs to be aligned or put in specifically in a certain way?
For the cost of those Brey-Krause harness bars I could probably get a half cage or something. _________________ - 1977 Porsche 924 2.0 N/A (Trackday Project)

If you're tracking in a well run, instructed novice group at PIR, the car isn't going to be upside down.
If you're headed to Grass Valley, on the other hand, the equation might change a bit!
FWIW, we've been grooming a guy here in Portland on Toofah caging, and he has gotten pretty good at it. . .around $1700. _________________ Toofah King Bad

I do plan on ORP, so yes, grass valley would be in the equation. I don't plan on going upside down, but then again, no one really does. Just why i want to save my butt.
$1700 is a killer price! I've been quoted all the way up to $4k from some places! Could you pm me his number and info? _________________ - 1977 Porsche 924 2.0 N/A (Trackday Project)

What's funny is the Derek is already friends with Russ on FB.
Russ really does great fab work and if he's too busy (which happens when you do great work), I can always ask my teammate who did the cage in our ChumpCar what he would charge (Doug Folsom) as he'd be doing it out of his house on the side.
Also, Barrett Dash who works at All Wheels Driven in Bend building rally cars (also on our team in 2009)
http://www.allwheelsdriven.net/
Not sure what they'd charge and whether they've done any 924/944's before, but they've probably done a lot of hatchbacks, which shouldn't won't be too far off of what you need, especially with some helpful pictures of 924 and 944 cages. _________________ Stefan
