Been looking through pics online and realized that the distributor on my 924 is on wrong. From reading it can go on in two different positions, and looks like mine is on wrong.

So what is involved with putting it on correct and what will it do to the engine for being wrong.

Here is a pic for reference.

What will having the distributor mounted in the high (incorrect) position do?

Obviously something is going to hit the hood, and rub, eventually shorting out the ignition system.

What should you do? Remove the distributor and remount it in the correct lower position, then reset the ignition timing.

I just got done rebuilding my ignition system and indexing my dizzy. Follow exactly gohim stated. Reuilding the ignition system was no fun. gohim helped me to get mine to run, he knows what he is talking about. From my experience I agree with him 100%. Just rotating the dizzy 90 degrees is just going to throw the timing off.

this is a picture of the dissy housing with home made gasket which attaches to the head.
you will notice there is two bolt positions for the bolts.

this pic show the housing mounted in the correct position.

This will put the ign timing out so check it with a timing light when completed

What Ozzy said.
Undo the bolts and re-align the casting. Only a couple of bolts.
