The '82-'84 BMW 633 uses a similar sensor. The cable is 8' longer, but the sensor and plug are the same. I installed two on my 944 and they work just fine. They are on sale at AutohausAZ for $55.60 each vs Porsche for $154 each. Might be a good Christmas Gift for your 924S.
Had a sensor go out on Thanksgiving Day. Was stopped at a red light and the engine just quit. No warning. 24 yr old parts do go bad.
