Yea you shouldnt need no lawyer fer that.. though the treatment
is gonna kill 2 grand ... plus the fine & maybe even about 75 more per
month for the breathalizer your probly gonna need. I like that interior you have. @ 2 grand yer a little high there dude.

I have a better idea.

Park the car, accept that you were at fault and take the lumps on your own.

Once life has straightened out, then start driving again. Plus you will have all that time to fix her up.

And maybe now you will learn to not drive if you have had a drink.

Sorry but you'll be lucky to see $850 from that. Running? Not running?

Agreed.. DUI is pretty much an open/shut case. No need to pay one of those bottom feeders a chunk of money too. (offense meant to any laywers on the board)

Park it in the garage and work on it while its there. You have clearly put alot of work into it so far, it would be a shame to see it go and for a fraction of what you have spent on it so far in time and money.

Isn't the first DUI only 700-900 fine?

I would keep the car as you wont get out of it what you will want.

Hope everything works out for you and you've learned a lesson.

Just imagine if a DUI was an instant 1 year loss of license, possibly with a month in jail......

Not here in Iowa it isn't. A good friend of mine got his first OWI and the ticket itself was that much, added to mandatory court date/costs, high risk insurance mandate for 2 years (which is about $300 a month for low B.S. coverage on a P.O.S. pickup truck that he owns) and probation (no tickets for 2 years). All told it cost him about 4 grand. This was just to get a work permit license, he couldn't even get a regular one... This was about 5 years ago and the laws have gotten tougher since then.

In Canada.....if you are caught driving with a Blood alchol level over .08.....you get an automatic DUI....car is impounded and you get a criminal record. You lose the right to travel outside of the country as you no longer qualify for a passport with a criminal record. Plus you get all the fun with fines and counrt appearances and possible jail time. Keep your nose clean for about 10 years and you can apply for a pardon and if they pardon you....then you can apply for a passport. I stopped drinking completely.....years ago.......it just wasn't worth the grief.

Wow, that's a bit harsh!!

Its a simple equation really

Drinking = Do not drive, don't even have keys on your person to avoid temptation

Driving = Do not drink, don't even go into a bar to avoid temptation

Simple rule and very effective.

If you Drink (or Drugs) And Drive, sorry, but you deserve all you get

Over here in the UK it's usually a years ban + hefty fine minimum.
My uncle got a suspended 3 month jail sentence + a 18 month ban.

Keep the car. Looks like you did a lot to it and would be a wast to sell it. I don't think you'll get 2 k for it, just cause of the way the body looks. I don't know how desperate you are for money, but I think you will regret selling it.
