Does anyone know where I can get a pilot bearing that is considerably cheaper than $70?

Just measure it up, it's just a needle bearing.

Search for spigot bearing on here I'm pretty sure I posted the dims of the one I used.

It cost about £3

Pretty sure there were differing, and incompatible pilot/spigot bearings used in different 924s. It's been researched and information posted here in the past. I'd try finding those post/s to verify before ordering.

All the N/A pilot bearings are the same needle bearing, but trust me - it's worth it to get the whole assembly. First you gotta get the old assembly out of the car without trashing it (a feat in itself), then you'd have to re-use the PB seal, which you will destroy getting the needle bearing out of the housing. If anyone has a source for that seal by itself you'll be fortunate. It's easiest and best to just spend the cashola and get the whole assembly.

Check the How-To section. I put up a thread about getting that sucker out and Stefan (fiat22turbo) added some great stuff to it.

I bought a shaft seal to go with the bearing, or you can buy a bearing with an integral seal... Easy!

I use simplybearings.co.uk

You know, it would be worth it to find a roller bearing for this application. Anyone gone that route?

You mean ball bearing? I think you'll struggle to find one that will fit...
