Car running hot at idle, or when driving slow. Seems to cool down on the highway, but on hot days its still near the red even at highway speeds.
Q's - are there two fans or one? I hear one fan turn on when the temp needle just touches the red. No fans run when car is shut off. I thought there were two fans, so is this a bad relay? Also, seems I have ground issues or weak battery as just altering electrical draw like turning on lights will alter the temp gauge reading a bit. But I still suspect its really hot and the reading is close, something else not right. _________________ UnderDog

Thanks for the clarks link. So this is for a 944, I thought I understood the similarities. They describe the 85.5 and older, and I think thats the guide I need to look at even thought I've got an '88. I see that newer 944's have a 3 wire thermo sensor, I looked and from what I saw its a 2 wire, so it looks like the 85.5 and older w/ AC is the guide I want.
Will see what I find this weekend. Thanks. _________________ UnderDog

| check the grounds, if you just got the car clean them, that solved alot of issue for me. I had a similar problem, changing the thermostat helps alot. also remember that the car will always heat up a bit at slow speeds and idle due to a lack of air flow, its not that the fans dont move the air but the hot air builds up under the hood and the still air under the car gets hot, but its a small price to be payed for the increased performance of allowing sports car engines to run that hot. |
