I'm about to respray my 924. It was originally a rough lime green colour and the previous owner resprayed it purple. Two pretty bad choices I reckon.
So I'm going respray it white as I think they look pretty good in white.

Anyone got any tips on respraying? Or anyone know of a link on here or a good website with tips?
I've got both a gravity feed and a normal spray gun. I've heard gravity feed is better. That true?
Also, what's the best spray pattern and PSI/BAR to spray at for cars?

Thanks!
Owen

Start by going to super cheap or repco and getting a haynes spray painting book to see what you are in for. Is the Car completely green / purple including inside the engine bay and interior ?

Next go and do a short ACE course at one of the canberra TAFES they should be on the weekends or evenings only about 20 hours. This will give you a bit of hands on and a very very very basic understanding.

My suggestion is buy a good book on the subject and start with YouTube there is a course from a guy called Tony something on YouTube excellent value as he goes through the no nonsense way of doing it for specifics on spraying you can pm me am prepping to spray my loofah with some pretty radical paint styles three stage

One option is to do all the prep work yourself and take it to the bodyshop for the final painting. Most of the cost in a paint job is the prep work.

If your bout 2 do it.. does that mean you have the the spray gun and comp. & feel comfy with thith the gun, know how to mix auto paint.
& do correct prepping 4 a respray. Get something you can cut and buff shiny, Youll need to be able to wet sand, buff and polish. If it is a true respray thats all youll need to know.. Btw mask the car really good.

Attend that class near you would get u hands on ex. Do it.

I did mine 2 years ago.
Original color was red and the PO put it dark green which start to peel and shows red!
I didn’t know anything about car painting before starting; I watch some video on Youtube and my brother in law give me some basic directions on the phone.
I say DO IT.
My paint job is far from looking professional but I learned a lot, it looks better then before and I did it my self at low cost.
I did a base coat / clear coat.

Yea & save the money to get enough of the color coat and clear...
get a gallon of each on top of a spot primer maybe throw
down a coat of primer sealer should be able to just spot prime
and color coat.
