hey everyone

I was checking a few things the other day and when I went to start the car it was completely dead - well almost. the lights on the dash came on as usual, my voltmeter(dash) registered at about 13v - everything seemed normal other than no cranking or effort to start of any kind.

this happened last week when it was very hot and I thought maybe it overheated - so I waited a bit tried it a couple of times with a similar result - then as a "one more time and I will call someone" it started right up and drove fine.

does anyone have any thoughts on what might cause a unique (to me) no start problem?

any thoughts are much appreciated

thanks
Sean

Try the simple stuff first. Clean battery posts, see if there is corrosion built up on battery cable ends. Tighten battery cable ends securely, twist them to make sure. Then, if that doesn't work, check other end on starter.

ok-

battery connections seem fine and the starter end looks fine as well no visible corrosion, breakage or melting. solenoid?

does it travel to the coil and ignition box from there?

thanks
Sean

The key starter switch could be the culprit. If you wiggle it about will it go ?

If it is, it's an easy fix and cheap !

ok - I am feeling a little more stupid than before

in going back over many of the things I had been "fixing" grounds and fuses and the like - I must have pulled a plug off of the back of the fuse panel -

I plugged it back in and it started right up - it was tucked in behind the 2nd relay i believe and I did not see it until I crawled under and started checking for loose or lost connections where I had been working. It really through me off because it seemed to work fine when I drove it the other day - but then had the no start problem - then it did???

any how hopefully it is fine now
thanks vary much for all of your help - the process has helped me greatly

Sean
