I spoke to a friend of mine about the Vibratech mounts, that runs a business making polyurethane bushings and motor mounts:

http://polybushings.com

and here's his reply:

Quote:
I am open to other things. I make a lot of Mazda stuff, I make and sell Cadillac bushings,
I have ford stuff also.

$270 for those....wow!
Spend engine mounts! What does the stock one look like?
What years and what engines? I am guessing the engines were all the same?

Johnny

I'll get him the info and see what he comes up with. I suspect that once he gets an idea on cost, we can decide as a group whether to proceed.

I'll see if I can scare up a couple of stock mounts to give him the next time he's passing through town (he lives in Coos Bay, OR) as it is sometimes easier to work from an original part.

Right now, I'm looking for serviceable stock mount parts:

R/L side motor mounts

"dogleg" or "snailshell" transmission mounts

If you have some that you'd like to get rid of, let me know.

Once I have the parts to him and a general idea of interest, he should be able to get an idea on pricing.

This is an interesting idea, but I'd be interested in test results first. . .by someone else!

My fear is that the vibration would shake your teeth out.

IIRC are the Vibratechs not very hard, shore 40 for street and shore 60 for the track setup.

The design for the left and right motor mount are completly different.
Right has got 2/3 of the engine weight and 250-300Nm of torque to deal with. The left only 1/3 of the weight minus that torque.
One solution is a more or less solid right mount and a soft left mount to absorb the vibrations. The perfect right motor mount would be a progressive one allowing small movements but not larger. Fluid-damper?

Another solution would be relative soft mounts to absorb vibrations and a wire or beam from the left stuttower to the head of the engine to reduce turning motions from the engine torque

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Today's weirdness is tomorrow's reason why.

No one seemed interested, so I haven't followed up on it.

I need a spare set of mounts to provide him for templates, testing, etc.
