Got these springs new from a US seller on ebay. Told they were 250#, but measured 220#. Not Weltmeister, think they may be H&R but they`re not listed in the current catalog. Does anyone recognize the maker?

They look like the ones I put on my car. They're also the same rating at 220#.
If the same (pretty likely) they'd be standard height, and not "lowering springs" in case that was in question..
I may still have the box they came in - will look-see if there's a makers mark anywhere. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

Found on the boxs' label-
HD-1E B.15.04.01
EIBACH 924 HD STOCK CX95020942
HD-1E
PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS 800-423-3173
Also, if the same, you should find their uncompressed length is less than the OE springs - enough that no spring compression's required to install or remove them (they fit loosely in the strut assembly with a stock length strut cartridge). _________________ "..it's made in Germany. Ain't that going to be a MOT faillure? I've always assumed that the springs should always be compressed even when the strut is at is maximum length?
That's why many aftermarket adjustable shock struds have helper springs.

Thank you Smoothie.
Your description sounds spot on. Yes they have a shorter free length, about 12" Vs around 14" for the stock ones IIRC. Although they were new, I didn`t get the box, because of shipping reasons I think. Remember that each spring had a little sticker, about 1/2 x 1" that read "924 944 HD", may even have been "HD-1E", not sure now but definitely HD. Recall they dropped the front a small amount, 10 - 15mm, not a great deal so they are not lowering springs as such.
A quick Google on your info led me to a thread on another BB where it was said that the Weltmeister springs for our cars are actually Eibach, or visa-versa. Just different colour paint/ powder.
There is no MOT as such in Oz, however some states (NSW, Vic) do need an annual inspection by an authorized garage. I have a feeling though that the blower would divert attention away from the suspension. Nothing at all in SA or QLD, so not a problem anyway. |

From your pictures they are actually less than 220# springs.
Car springs are rated in # per inch.
So 220# springs will move 1" with 220# of weight on them. 2" with 440#.
Yours appear to move more than an inch and look more like 210-215 if I had to guess. _________________ 3 928s, |
