I spent quite a bit of money several months ago to get my 79 924 running. But I still have 2 problems. I've bought 3 fuel pump relays and none seem to work. I have to use a toggle switch to turn the fuel pump on and off. The engine seemed to run fine until my daughters boyfriend drove it about 5 miles without turning the fuel pump on. SINCE then I can drive it approximately 20 minutes and then it starts to bog down almost as if it is flooded. I do not have a problem starting it when it is hot or cold. Im confused where to start and what to do with either problem. _________________ 79' 924 |

Yeah, this lands under my theory of "Never let anybody use something that has a trick to it" because it never fails, something will go wrong.
Definitely need to figure out why the relay won't work, maybe a wire is not connected or bad grounds.
Edit: I was trying to remember when mine was bogging, I ended up cleaning the WUR and the fuel dizzy.
Also, I started running 93 octane and tuned it to run much better on the 93.I keep an eye on the plugs too. _________________ I got nothin'

I've checked all the grounds etc... most of them looked good but I will check again. Yes it bogs down if I push down on the gas pedal. I have tried to turn off the fuel pump with the toggle switch when this happens and it comes out of it but if I turn the switch (fuel pump) back on it bogs down immediately again. _________________ 79' 924 |

Yeah I edited that Duh question out , ( I asked if it was bogging while accelerating) sorry.
I went through the fuel system, carefully cleaning everything and making sure the injectors spray was good.
If all that fails, need to get a CIS tester to see what's really going on, I've been putting that off right now but it's on the list.
There are loads of info here on the CIS, you may need to study up on the WUR . _________________ I got nothin'

Tell us how you wired the switch since it obviously doesn't turn the fuel pump off.....

The toggle is wired to the 30 and 87 spot. I have all new vacuum lines and no air leaks I know of. Why would air be a problem if it runs fine for the first 20 minutes? Paul you wouldn't happen to be near Prairie Du Chien would you? _________________ 79' 924 |

| Had a similar prob on a 97 bmw 318 no power, wont rev . Checked for vacuam probs, fuel probs. Removed the lambda worked perfect THE CAT WAS STUFFED. Removed inside of cat and car is running sweet. Maybe worth removing lambda and trying. |

you might have a clog in the return line and its bulding to much pressure since the pump is running all the time the system delivers a lot of fuel way more that the engine needs at any time regulator or return line I would say. _________________ 1977 924 2.0L N/A "The Track Car" (soon!)
