can any of you tell me ,how you would know which engine is in my 924 ?
i believe they put a 90 bhp / 110 bhp and a 125 bhp in the 924 ? .
but how do you tell the difference ?
also if they decompressed the engine to lower the bhp ,would it be possible to put a turbo on without having to touch the engine. |

There are 2 basic engines in the 924
The Audi/VW 2 litre and the Porsche 2.5 litre.
The Audi 2 litre has a distributer at the top on the back of the engine bay
The Porsche 2.5 has a distributer fitted to the front of the engine.
The 2.5 was only fitted to the 924S
The 2 was fitted to everything else. The turbo cars have a similar 2L with a turbo (Clearly), different pistons, heads and gearboxes. _________________ 1994 Lotus Esprit S4 - Work in progress...

To add to Rich's comments, AFAIK, all ROW 924 2.0L were the 9.3:1 CR, 125 BHP version. It was the early US version that was only 90 BHP, followed by a 115BHP version beginning in 1978.
So, if you have a ROW 2.0L car (which you should be able to identify using the VIN), you have 9.3:1 CR pistons. Also, if you have a 2.0L car, you're in the wrong subsection...this section is for the 1986-1988 924S that came with the 2.5L motor.
As for putting a turbo on the car, here's your reading assignment. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
