|
|
OK all, yet another problem with my car - I'm determined to fix everything mechanical until its perfect.
So, new clutch, everything perfect for two days. Then hard shift from 1st to 2nd and grind? can't get into 2nd? So go to 3rd no problem. Then at stop, can't get into anything but 5th? Finally got 2nd in a parking lot, so limped home. Now in driveway with car not running, clutch depressed, does not feel like I can hit any gear at all.
Friend said there is a possible easy fix with some clip or something, can pull the boot off and replace/fix from inside the car. Not sure what he refers to or if thats even it. Shifter feels like something is just not tight with the linkage, can't be anything major, just something simple broke or needs to be re-tightened?
I'm not even sure how to pull the shift boot up & off without breaking the plastic under the rig by the shifter? Any pointers, thoughts, etc.
Thanks! _________________ UnderDog

Did you carefully tighten the security shift rod bolt at the rear? Did the bolt on the shift rod get into the "dimple" on the transaxle linkage rod? Do not overtighten this bolt and make sure you replace the security wire.
