Found an awesome VW thread with some pretty good pics and info on rekeying, and also, found a link with replacement handles for pretty cheap, not sure if they would work in a 924/931 or not

rekeying:

door handles (this is a VW part, but pretty sure they are the same as the 924, if any knows for sure, let me know)

yeah, mine didn't come with keys, just a spoon handle for the ignition. But, eh, what can you expect for a 931 which is mechanically sound for 600

A locksmith can rekey a lock for a fairly reasonable cost and make all your locks fit the same key......provided the locks use the same type of key. I need to get the ignition lock rekeyed on my car as the ignition key does not fit the door locks.....which is pretty silly......I mean....who would change a lock and not get it rekeyed to fit the key in the other locks. Around here it only costs $10 or $15 to rekey a lock, which sure beats having an extra key to deal with constantly.

I did notice the ignition lock on my 931 uses a VW key.....which is the same type of key as the door locks that use a Porsche key, so I'm assuming our 931's use VW ignition locks as well.

Yeah, I know there are tons of threads on here talking about this, but none really had a very good step by step, and that VW thread, has the step-by-step and is all of the same parts. There also, if you do not have all of the right size tumblers, you can put ones that do not fit in, and then grind off the excess, or just not use just leave that slot empty (saw as advice on a previous thread on here on this topic). You could probably even leave most of the slots empty, as when people break into cars, they usually don't try a key.

Didn't check, as I don't need that part, I just put that out there since they are alot cheaper than the Porsche replacements.

As fortune would have it, I went to a friends apartment lastnight, and parked next to me was in fact a mid 80's VW, with the exact same door handles, and looking at the pictures from the link, and seeing the internals, they are the same as the Porsche ones.
