I got everything else working, EVERYTHING!

Got my brakes working, all systems such as lights, ignition, all working now on my little 914. Only the fuel pump isn't turning on which is confusing the hell out of me.

SO CLOSE.

I'm a tad confused since the actual pump turns on if I user my jumper cable to hit pin 13 for the pump and it turns right on.

When I checked my relay board pin 13 on the board gets 12v. but when i actually turn the car on the fuel pump does not turn on or prime, it's very odd. 12v is 12v so what gives... ???

Someone said "Oh i think it's switched by the ground on the ecu" but this makes no sense to me. The fuel runs a ground to the firewall directly from the pump. The positive cable goes onto pin 13 for the relay board. So when 12v is applied to it, it turns on. Pin 13 gets 12v on the board, but when it's hooked up it does nothing.

Seriously just wtf.... Perhaps it's badly soldered and not enough amperage?

I would guess that the solder joint on the board is bad and is not passing enough current.

I was testing the wrong wire. Sorry, found out it is NOT getting 12v.

However, wire 14 is the power for this relay. The circuit itself gets 12v all the way down through the fuse which is great.

Aside from there it's anyone's guess. I tried also double checking relays and swapping them since they're all the same, no luck.

Tried tapping the top of the relay's? Sometimes they don't get enough power to fully close the contacts (or they stick in one position or another)

BTW, it looks like the 914 suffers from a similar issue with the 924 as far as the ignition switches are concerned.

I did not try that.

If the "percussion adjustment" works then doublecheck the connections and wiring to ensure they are getting all the current they should be and if that checks out, then replace the relays.

If you feel adventurous, you can try to open the relays and clean the contacts, but that's likely to end up with new relays and a bunch of random parts on your bench.

Still, kinda fun tinkering and learning how stuff works!

Relay? Yes. No spark? oh problems that never stop. There is a 914 up the road from me I wish I could buy so I could own 2 Porsches. Anyway check your distributor and rotor contacts for corrosion if the car has been sitting wires for rodent damage or bad coil possibly. I don't know how the 914 is but its probably a very similar ign. system.
